For #flashbackfriday this week we are looking at another of our favourite JCG / Perth Festival collaborations, the 2015 exhibition “Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors / The Man”.

Since representing Iceland at the Venice Biennale back in 2009, Kjartansson has established an international reputation as a triple threat – musician, performer & visual artist.
JCG presented his elegiac video installation “The Visitors”, a profoundly immersive 9 channel video work featuring a gathering of the artist’s friends and musicians in the grandiose and decaying 200 year-old Rokeby Farm in Upstate New York. Together they composed an ode to femininity & each musician’s performance was discretely captured in separate rooms, connected via headphones. “The Visitors” was presented in tandem with Kjartansson’s cinematic video installation “The Man” – the beguiling portrait of 96 year-old legendary blues musician Pinetop Perkins.
