Hello and welcome.

When a collection of Carrolup artworks came home to Noongar country in 2013, a unique and precious resource was returned to Western Australia.

Lost overseas for more than 60 years, the exquisite artworks by young children of the Stolen Generations offer a rare glimpse into the lived experiences of Aboriginal children at a time when systemic racism and discrimination under Government policies tore Indigenous families and culture apart.

Curtin University is now embarking upon an ambitious project to create a permanent, protective home for these artworks that will become a centre for truth-telling and reconciliation in perpetuity.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are warned that photographs/videos on this website contain images of deceased persons, which may cause sadness or distress.

The John Curtin Gallery and Curtin University acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which Curtin Perth is located, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our deepest respects to our ancestors and Elders, past and present, our emerging leaders and those of our respective Nations. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land.
