Sense and Sensitivity Curator, Dr. Suzanne Ingelbrecht, discusses the over arching projec, plus hear from the artists as they share insight into their new artworks.
Sense and Sensitivity is the result of a unique multi-disciplinary collaboration between Simon Phillips and Dawn-joy Leong, who have partnered to marry a series of stunning photographic landscapes by Phillips with Leong’s poetic soundscapes.
The exhibition is part of a new collaboration between researchers from Curtin’s Centre for Culture and Technology and the Curtin Autism Research Group in a celebration of neurodiverse creativity.
Sense and Sensitivity celebrates the unique sensorial place of autistic artistry in the world via the lens of autistic landscape photographer, Simon Phillips, and the deep listening of autistic performance artist Dawn-joy Leong.
In a kaleidoscope of beautiful imagery and subtle sound, this remarkable collaboration privileges the feelings of both artists for the world; how they engage with it through what they see, hear and touch; revealing their exquisite appreciation for themes of diversity, balance, place and timelessness.
