Deepening our Cultural Dialogue is the first of the Cultural Connections Critical Conversations – events designed for us to collectively imagine the future of our sector through the voices of artists, arts workers, arts producers, and arts interpreters across various disciplines.
The events over the last 20 months have ignited issues that have been smouldering in Western Australian society for decades – the roles and rights of our First Nations peoples, our multiculturalism and the sense of belonging for migrants, the importance of place and the impacts of technology, and the engagement and empowerment of young people.
Deepening our Cultural Dialogue is co-hosted by the Chamber of Arts and Culture WA with the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University, Bentley and will be fittingly staged against the backdrop of three exhibitions that complement the discussion: Carrolup coolingah wirn – The spirit of Carrolup children, Julie Dowling’s Bidya Gurlbarl (Open Secret), and Isaac Julien’s Perth Festival installation. Refreshments will be provided, and the exhibitions will be available to view after the panel event.
