Walk through the exhibition, Lindy Lee: Moon in a Dew Drop, with John Curtin Gallery Director, Chris Malcolm for an in depth take on the many artforms of artist Lindy Lee.

Working across a range of disciplines including painting, sculpture, installation and public art, Lee draws on her Australian and Chinese heritage to develop works that engage with the history of art, cultural authenticity, personal identity and the cosmos. Key influences are the philosophies of Daoism and Ch’an (Zen) Buddhism, which explore the connections between humanity and nature.

Chris Malcolm, Director, John Curtin Gallery

Chris Malcolm has been Director of the John Curtin Gallery since 2009. He has curated and designed exhibitions over the last 25 years since moving from a career as a practising artist with works in the Collections of the City of Fremantle and Art Gallery of Western Australia. Malcolm started working with Curtin University’s Art Collection in 1989 and was closely involved in the design and development of the John Curtin Gallery which opened in 1998 as Australia’s largest University Art Museum. A Founding Curator of BEAP the Biennale of Electronic Arts Perth – a major international festival project showcasing innovative new media arts practise 2002–2007, Malcolm has also curated over 15 major international exhibitions for the Perth Festival.  He has received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in 2002 and 2019 and developed exhibitions interrogating many topics in collaboration with leading researchers across a range of disciplines from nanotechnology to radio astronomy with a focus on social justice.

Influential Australian Chinese artist, Lindy Lee, explores identity, history, spirituality and our relationship to the cosmos. She creates meditative works using light, shadow and scale across many artforms. Moon in a Dew Drop takes an in-depth look at four decades of extraordinary practice.

Take in shimmering, meditative and thought-provoking works in her major survey exhibition which draws on her experience of living between two cultures.
