      2020 Major Exhibition Program

      An Award Winning Year!

      Wednesday 6 November 2019

      A Curtin University research collaboration between the Gallery and the Centre for Sport and Recreation Research (CSRR) has been recognised at the 2019 Museums and Galleries National Awards (MAGNA) and the activities supporting the Carrolup tour to Colgate University has won the inaugural Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Reconciliation.

      Shane Pickett Appeal

      Carrolup art returns to the United States

      In April selected pieces of the Herbert Mayer Collection of Carrolup Artwork returned to their former home at Colgate University in Upstate New York as part of a special exhibition to mark the 200th anniversary of that university. John Curtin Gallery Director, Chris Malcolm, accompanied senior Curtin staff and Noongar elders to Colgate University to share the story of the artwork, and its significance to Noongar culture.

      Gallery launches its Founders’ Club

      The John Curtin Gallery has launched its inaugural donors’ circle – the JCG Founders’ Club – and all Gallery supporters are encouraged to become members. The Club will create funding for expanded Gallery activities including community engagement programs and enhanced access to the Collection.

      Curtin honours an Arts champion

      Alan Dodge, one of Australia’s most experienced and respected authorities on the visual arts and a long-serving member of the John Curtin Gallery Advisory Board, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by Curtin in August.
