Please join us for the launch of Moving Pictures: Dementia, Digital Media and Culture exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery’s Access Gallery.

Moving Pictures is an innovative multi-media project that aims to raise dementia awareness in Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities. This study is a collaboration between the National Ageing Research Institute and Curtin University and has been funded since 2017 by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care.

Short films and comics have been co-produced with people from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse backgrounds (Italian, Greek, Vietnamese, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil-, Cantonese-, Mandarin-, and Arabic-speaking communities). These short films cover the signs and symptoms of dementia, navigating care, and the carer’s journey. The films feature the stories and lived experiences of carers of people living with dementia, and the expert views of key service providers.

The exhibition will be opened by Professor Mike Kent (Chief Investigator, Curtin University) who will be showcasing some of latest films, comics and examples of the Moving Pictures artwork.

Exhibition is on from 29 September – 31 October 2021.
